A wonderful, easy to understand explanation of the basic principles of Theology of the Body.  A great book to start with!

Good News About Sex and Marriage by Christopher West

Written in a question and answer format, this book takes on the tough questions about sex, marriage, and Church teaching.  It provides clarity and inspiration for living out God’s plan for love and marriage.

Life-Giving Love: Embracing God’s Beautiful Design for Marriage by Kimberly Hahn

A book filled with the beautifully compelling reasons behind Church teaching on married love.  Kimberly Hahn does a wonderful job of explaining what real married love looks like, debunking myths and falsehoods about Church teaching, and revealing the beauty of God’s design for marriage and family. 

Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body by John Paul II, Translation, Introduction, and Index by Michael Waldstein, Pauline Books and Media

This is a wonderful edition of the “real thing”: the full text of Saint John Paul II’s Wednesday audiences on the Theology of the Body.  It includes a fantastic introduction and a user friendly index.

Parenting With Grace by Dr. Greg and Lisa Popcak

In this book, Catholic therapist Dr. Greg and his wife, Lisa, provide many practical ideas for using the Theology of the Body to inspire family life and parenting skills.  A great help for raising children at all age levels through the lens of the Catholic faith!

Beyond the Birds and the Bees by Dr. Greg Popcak

This book provides a comprehensive Catholic perspective for helping our children navigate their sexuality.  As the title implies, this is not your typical “sex ed” book.  This book uses principles of the Theology of the Body to take into consideration the whole person, body and soul, as it provides practical tips for teaching our children about the many changes they experience while growing up.  A wonderful resource for guiding our children into a chaste and faithful mindset.

Theology of the Body for Teens, High School Edition by Brian Butler, Jason Evert, and Crystalina Evert

While this curriculum is designed to be used in the classroom setting, the materials provide wonderful insights into the Theology of the Body and are a great help for discussing the topic at home.  The parent guide provides lists of many more great TOB resources as well.

Theology of the Body for Teens, Middle School Edition by Brian Butler, Jason Evert, and Colin MacIver

Created in the same format as the high school edition, this curriculum clearly explains the basic principles of TOB to middle school-aged students.  Also has a wonderful parent guide.

Designed in the question and answer format that the title suggests, this book covers many different aspects of the faith in a way that is easy to understand and entertaining.  A good read for teens and adults alike!

Children’s Books

The Squire and the Scroll: A Tale of the Rewards of a Pure Heart by Jennie Bishop

A captivating fairy tale about purity that will especially interest young boys.  A great conversation starter for parents of elementary school-aged chidren.

The Princess and the Kiss: A Story of God’s Gift of Purity by Jennie Bishop

Similar in style to The Squire and the Scroll, but geared more toward girls.
